TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Some P1 billion worth of various infrastructure projects will be implemented in the different parts of lower Kalinga this year, Engr. Ireneo S. Gallato, district engineer of the Lower Kalinga District Engineering Office, said here, Friday.
Gallato added some P599 million worth of infrastructure projects will be implemented by the district office under the regular fund while over P415 million worth of infrastructure projects will also be implemented in the lower Kalinga area by the Cordillera office of the Department of Public works and Highways (DPWH-CAR).
“We are elated that lower Kalinga continues to get its well deserved share of infrastructure projects from the concerned government agencies that is why we are trying to make sure that we will be able to implement the programmed projects within the year,” Gallato stressed.
The lower Kalinga district engineer said among the projects that were funded under the district’s regular budget include asset preservation of national roads through rehabilitation, reconstruction and upgrading of damaged paved national roads, including drainage based on pavement management system.
Further, he added there are also project that were programmed for rehabilitation, upgrading and reconstruction of national roads with slips, slope collapse and landslide and road upgrading from unpaved to paved based on gravel road strategies, traffic benchmark for upgrading to paved road standards.
According to him, the district was also blessed to have funds for the construction and maintenance of bridge along national roads coupled with the rehabilitation and major repair of permanent bridges.
On the other hand, Gallato claimed there are also available funds that were earmarked for the replacement of weak bridges along national roads to guarantee the safety of the travelling public in the different parts of lower Kalinga.
He revealed there are also available funds for the widening of permanent bridges, including road-right-of-way, that will expand the said structures to cover more than two lanes as well as the construction and management of flood mitigating structures and drainage systems.
He asserted the district also programmed projects for the construction of revetment and embankment dike and channelling and widening along the Chico river.
