MANKAYAN, Benguet – Some twenty five selected residents from the town’s different barangays are now undergoing a web-based entrepreneurship training that will equip them with the skills and knowledge on how to advance the same among interested individuals from the different sectors.
Mayor Frenzel Ayong said that the initial batch of trainees will serve as the pool of trainors who will be providing the required trainings to interested individuals for them to avail of the benefits of the enhanced livelihood program of the local government.
“We are elated that we are able to start the ball rolling for the said program so that we will be able to convince more people to embrace the said training for them to be updated on the latest trends of earning through the aid of a computer and strong internet signal,” Mayor Ayong stressed.
The implementation of the internet-based entrepreneurship program is an initiative of the municipal government in partnership with the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), the Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company (LCMC) and the Far Southeast Gold Resources, Inc..
Aside from initially undergoing the 6-day basic training, the local chief executive disclosed that the initial batch of trainors will be undergoing another wave of trainings that will be provided them to hone their skills that will help them in providing future trainees with the needed skills and knowledge for them to maximize the potentials of working within the 4 corners of their homes.
According to Mayor Ayong, the capacitation of interested individuals will definitely empower them to become productive individuals who will be able to earn the needed income that will contribute in uplifting the living condition of their families, especially those situated in far flung areas of the municipality.
He explained that the primary beneficiaries of the program include members of the town’s marginalized sectors who are willing to help themselves in acquiring added skills and knowledge so that they will be able to be assets of the community instead of relying on whatever assistance that will be provided by the concerned government agencies and the local government for them to survive the difficulties of life.
Mankayan is one of the few towns in the region which was selected by the DICT to be the pilot areas for the implementation of the internet-based entrepreneurship training geared towards empowering residents to embrace the advancement of information and communication technology to be able to significantly improve their capability to earn added income that will help in improving the living condition of their families.
Ayong expressed his gratitude to the supporters of the program and urged his constituents to avail of the same considering its enormous benefits and bright potentials that will contribute in significantly improving the living condition of families in the town’s different barangays.
He asserted that the local government will continue to explore possible partnerships with concerned government agencies and the private sector to help in improving the delivery of basic services to the people of the municipality for them to benefit from the same.
