Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad Benguet: After a series of diligent monitoring and continuous convincing by the authorities, three members of the Milisyang Bayan surrendered on the first week of the month to Police Regional Office Cordillera and Philippine Army.
In Abra, team Leader of Milisyang Bayan identified as Jerry Garcia y Blaze, @MAX/WANTO, a native of Barangay Ud-udiao, Sallapadan, Abra voluntarily surrendered without firearm to the joint operatives of Intel Platoon, members of the Philippine Army, Intelligence personnel of PROCOR, Abra PPO, and RIU-14, Sallapadan MPS and RFMB 15 at Bangued Abra in the morning of October 2, 2018. The surrender of Jerry Garcia was interceded by Hon. Nenita M Cardenas, Municipal Mayor of Sallapadan.
In Mountain Province, husband and wife, members of the Agustin Begnalen Command operating in North Abra, submitted themselves to the members of the Philippine Army and Intelligence personnel of Mountain Province Police Provincial Office.
Mary Gomez Sagengan, @ Margy/Danyag, 45 years old, native of Barangay Subosob, Salapadan, Abra presently residing at Bulwang, Sadanga voluntarily surrendered with firearms in the morning of October 2, 2018 at Poblacion, Sadanga, Mountain Province. She surrendered with one (1) Carbine M2 with defaced serial number and one (1) magazine with five (5) live ammunition.
The following day afternoon of October 3, 2018, her husband who is a Squad leader of the Regional Yunit Guerilla, identified as Libalib Rongorong Saguengan aka RUDY/LIBALIB, 56, laborer and resident of Barangay Belwang, Sadanga voluntarily surrendered without firearm at Barangay Belwang, Sadanga.
The surrenderers entered the underground movement for a long period, however, upon realizing the unending hardship in the organization and difficulties in their guerilla struggle in the mountains, they decided to come back into the mainstream to live peaceful lives with their families.
They will receive livelihood projects under the Comprehensive Livelihood Integration Program of the Philippine government.
PROCOR will continue persuading and convincing members of the NPA to come back to the folds of law and mainstream of society. (PROCOR RPIO)
