LUNA, Apayao – In preparation for a comprehensive coverage of the highly anticipated 2024 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet, Schools Division Office in collaboration with the Provincial Information Office called teachers for a journalism training workshop at the Division Office, March 26.
About 30 participants coming from various municipalities experienced hands-on production of media contents on news writing, sports writing, radio broadcasting, and mobile photography as well as gained practical knowledge and skills from journalists of Guru Press Cordillera, Station 1 Radio and Blueboard Media.
During the said training, interactive sessions were done as well as sharing of valuable insights and best practices in sports journalism.
Additionally, the workshop emphasized the importance of ethical reporting and responsible journalism, highlighting the need for accuracy, fairness, and integrity in covering sports events.
Participants were encouraged to uphold journalistic principles while capturing the spirit and essence of the CARAA Meet, promoting transparency and credibility in their coverage.
As an agent of information and education, the trained teachers will play a crucial role in documenting and disseminating the highlights and achievements of the event, thereby promoting greater community engagement and pride in the region’s sports endeavors.
With the training, the teachers were equipped with tools and techniques necessary to provide insightful and comprehensive coverage of the sports event, ensuring that the stories and accomplishments of participating athletes are effectively communicated to a wider audience. It was revealed during the training that Apayao shall provide a LIVE 24/7 digital radio broadcast as well as timely reportage of the results of events which allow people who cannot be physically present in Apayao still get informed.
Over 7,000 athletes and delegates from 6 provinces and 2 cities in Cordillera are expected to be in Apayao during the conduct of the regional sporting event on April 14-19, 2024. By April Love Joy Rillo
