BONTOC, Mountain Province – Thirty-six individuals from barangays Maligcong, Tocucan, and Samoki in this municipality completed the Finance, Audit and Inventory Training on October 11, 2023.
The training initiated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan–Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) is designed to support vulnerable Filipino families through conditional cash transfers and organized training to enhance financial management skills and accountability among its beneficiaries.
Thus, the training covered financial record-keeping, budgeting, and effective inventory management. Participants actively engaged in hands-on learning sessions, gaining practical insights into these essential aspects of financial management.
With a focus on transparent and accountable governance, Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., encouraged the participants to actively engage in community matters, particularly concerning financial management.
The mayor’s call for transparency and resident participation resonates with the principles discussed during the training.
Likewise, Tudlong urged the public to take part in shaping the city/town’s financial practices, adding that the municipal government through the Office of the Municipal Mayor is open for inquiries, suggestions, or concerns related to the audit and inventory training and its application in the community.
Also, the mayor thanked the DSWD for its continuing commitment to empowering communities and improving the lives of its beneficiaries through educational initiatives such as the conduct of said training.
It is to be noted that under the present administration roadmap ENLANGAKHA: Achieving the Vision for a Dynamic Bontoc, one of its pillars is Empowering Communities. Thus, the municipal government continuously collaborates with various national government agencies and other partner stakeholders to provide capability intervention to the community such as the conduct of said training.
Meanwhile, the participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to acquire valuable skills, and they plan to implement what they’ve learned in their communities. By Alpine L. Killa-Malwagay & Nicole Shayne Fidchao
