BONTOC, Mountain Province – Five barangays are entitled to a cash incentive of P10, 000 each from the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) for their early submission of the Barangay Annual Budget Fiscal Year 2024.
These are barangays Bontoc Ili, Tocucan, Poblacion, Maligcong, and Gonogon.
Aside from the cash incentives, the said barangays represented by their respective barangay officials received Certificates of Appreciation from Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., during the Flag Raising Ceremony earlier today, November 28, 2023.
A reward incentive program initiated by the Municipal Budget Office headed by Municipal Budget Officer Aida Lingbanan, it aims to recognize the top performing Barangay Local Government Units (LGUs) which have submitted their Barangay Annual Budget before the prescribed period.
Lingbanan said that it is a manifestation of the BLGUs’ efforts in advancing the principles of accountability in local governance.
Mayor Tudlong lauded the awardees adding that these should serve as a motivation for other BLGUs to emulate.
The mayor remarked that early preparation and submission of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) budget for review by the Sangguniang Bayan of Bontoc has a great impact on the implementation of barangay programs, projects, and activities that benefit the populace.
The early submission of the barangay annual budget is also attributed to the collective efforts of the Office of the Municipal Budget Officer, Office of the Municipal Treasurer, Office of the Municipal Planning and Development Officer, Office of the Municipal Accountant, Office of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, and the Municipal Local Government Operations Officer which have been going to the barangays to conduct budget orientations.
