TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Two suspected members of the New Peoples Army (NPA) who have been charged for multiple cases were successfully arrested by combined police operatives and intelligence agents at Purok 6, Bulanao here over the weekend.
Police Col. Freddie Lasona, Provincial Director of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, said that the arrested NPA rebels were a 29-year old female listed as No. 33 in the periodic status report on threat groups under S4 Kilusang Larangang Gerilya (KLG) Abra, Mountain Province and Ilocos Sur (AMPIS) Chadli Molintas command for the second quarter of 2021 by virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder with no bail recommended issued on October 14, 2018 by Judge Sergio T. Angnganay, Jr. of the Regional Trial court (RTC) Branch 36 in Bontoc, Mountain Province and a 30-year old male who is the alleged vice commanding officer of the KLG AMPIS front operation command and listed as No. 23 of the first quarter 2023 by virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder issued on October 14, 2018 by the RTC Branch 35 in Bontoc, Mountain Province with no bail recommended., 10 counts of frustrated murder with recommended bail bond amounting to P200,000 each and for direct assault upon an agent of a person in authority issued by the Municipal Trial Court (MTC) of Bauko, Mountain Province with recommended bail of P40,000.
The arrested suspects were immediately brought to the Kalinga Provincial Police Office for proper documentation prior to their turnover to the issuing courts for the proper disposition of the cases that were filed against them.
Lasona commended the efforts of the combined police operatives and intelligence agents from the various operating units for their efforts in tracking down the suspected NPA rebels that led to their arrest and for them to answer for the crimes that they committed.
