TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The city government started to prepare for the upcoming 23rd Matagoan Festival and 74th Tabuk Founding Anniversary this June.
The festival’s theme, “Journey to the City of Life,” will highlight the vibrant culture of the city as discussed in a meeting on April 29, 2024.
City Tourism Officer Arlene Odiem presented relevant activities for the upcoming festival as an offshoot of their recent workshop with city personnel.
On June 24, the celebration of the foundation day will showcase the development of Tabuk dances in a parade.
Highlights of the Coffee Festival, “Kakan Di Umili,” Vintage Item Exhibition, Marching Band Presentation, Matagoan Fashion Show, and concert in the evening are all scheduled for the same day.
On June 25, Agri-Vet Cooperative Day will take place, with a parade led by cooperative members and farmers. The Agrilympics, the Jobs Fair, and the Tourism Site Float Parade are also scheduled for the same day.
On June 26, there will be a celebrity concert, a street dance cultural display, the Matagoan Run, and a Museum of Tabuk Values as part of Cultural Day.
Pagikna, Ayag, Angkas, Patawid Fair, Tree Planting, Special Passporting, Agri Fair, Thanksgiving Mass, Job Skills Fair, search for Mr. & Ms. Tabuk, and Investors Expo are some other pre- and post-event events.
Additional proposed activities are Bike Fest, White Water Rafting, Off Road Challenge, Invitational Arm Wrestling, Shoot Fest, Bloodletting, and Youth Painting.
During the meeting, the different offices in the city were assigned to facilitate various activities to make the festival successful.
They are required to plan and finalize their activities in accordance with budgetary requirements for the festival. By PIO Tabuk
