LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A 56-year old porter was injured after he was allegedly stabbed by a vendor while walking towards their residence at Western Buyagan, Poblacion, here, Monday.
Chief Inspector Benson Macli-ing, chief of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, identified the victim as Dominador Nisperos Carang, 56, single, porter, native of San Fernando, La Union, and a resident of Western Buyagan, Benguet, while he identified the suspect as Robin Dela Cruz Almandres, 20, single, vendor, native of Quezon City, and a resident of Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim and his son were walking towards their residence when they met the suspect who was with two still unidentified male companions.
While along the road, the suspect allegedly told the victim’s son that why was he looking at them suspiciously and then punched him.
The victim tried to pacify the commotion but the suspect smashed him with a weighing scale that inflicted injuries to his collar bone.
The victim and his son were rushed to the Benguet General Hospital for medical treatment while the suspect was arrested by responding police operatives and is now detained at the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station awaiting the filing of the appropriate charges against him.
