The theme for this year’s World Water Fund (WWF) Earth Hour is “#Connect 2Earth.”
The annual light switch off, being done for 10 years now, is conducted to save an hour’s worth of power in the homes, streets, signages and key monuments. Last year, an administrative order was issued for the purpose, wherein the program is focused on other energy-saving, climate-friendly and environmental-conserving measures.
World Water Day is celebrated at the same time, since 1993, which revolves around the preservation and conservation of water, with the opportunity to learn more about water-related issues. The celebration is done after the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, set by the UN general assembly.
Other energy-saving, climate-friendly and environmental-conserving measures are also focused on.
