ITOGON, Benguet June 06 – A father and son, who simply went to clean their water impounding box, died after allegedly succumbing to gas poisoning at Gold River Luacan, here, Wednesday.
Police authorities identified the fatalities as Flores Esnada Lampacan, 59, married and LHarson Ambros Lampacan, 32, single, both farmers and residents of Baguio Gold, Luacan, Itogon, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that the father and son went to allegedly inspect an old penstock and abandoned mine tailings as well as clean their water impounding box which were all in the said place of incident some three days ago.
However, concerned citizens who also went to the area shortly before noon Wednesday saw the lifeless bodies of the victim sprawled inside the water impounding box that prompted him to report the matter to the local police force.
Probers theorized that since the bodies of the victims were found inside the water impounding box, they were inside the said facility to clean the same when the gas poisoning happened that resulted to their untimely demise.
Relatives of the victims refused to subject the bodies of the victims to the usual autopsy to ascertain the cause of their death considering that they immediately brought home the remains of their love ones for them to be given a decant wake and burial.
