KAPANGAN, Benguet – A 39-year old driver died after he was stabbed on the chest by a 26-yaar old man during a drinking session at Paykek here Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent Florante Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, identified the fatality as Mico Baltazar Romero, 39, driver, and a resident Cayapes, Kapangan, Benguet while he named the suspect as Lenard Tilyakan Bareno, 26, and a resident of Paykek, Kapangan, Benguet.
Initial police investigations showed the victim and the suspect were having a drinking spree and were exchanging jokes when the former allegedly punched the latter for still unknown reasons.
At this juncture, the suspect retalitated by stabbing the victim on his chest with a small folding knife.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Kapangan Medicare Community Hospital for medical treatment where he died while undergoing medical treatment while the suspect was arrested by Paykek Punong Barangay Hansell K. Manis and company and subsequently turned him over to the Kapangan Municipal Police Station for the filing of charges against him.
