The city government continues to provide assistance and support to its citizens during the COVID-19 crisis, recently distributing the third wave of relief goods to 35,000 families in Tabuk City.
Mayor Darwin Estrañero said that “as jobs are lost and livelihoods are affected by the imposition of the enhanced community quarantine and the subsequent general community quarantine, we need to make sure that every family in Tabuk City is given food assistance throughout the COVID-19 crisis”.
Hence, an amount of P60 million from the P93 million Bayanihan Grant to Cities and Municipalities and P20 million from the supplemental budget no. 1 for a total of P80 million was set aside to give food assistance to every family in Tabuk City.
As of May 15, 2020, P40,169,000 out of the P80 million has been spent for the distribution of three waves of relief goods to all 35,000 families in Tabuk City.
Mayor Estrañero said as many as five waves of relief goods will be rolled out in the coming days with the fourth wave worth P17.5 million already being prepared.
Each food pack in the first wave of relief operations was composed of 5 kg of rice, 2 cans of sardines, 2 cans of meatloaf, 2 cans of corned beef, 4 sachet instant coffee. The second wave of food packs each consisted of 5 kg of rice, 2 chupas of white beans, 1 kg sugar, 1 kg salt, and 1 whole squash. The third wave of food packs each contained 5 kg of rice, 1 whole dressed chicken, and more than 1 kg potatoes.
