TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) – The city government, in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Kalinga, presented the Ileb Farmers Association (FA) with a livelihood check worth PHP 500K during the recently held city government flag raising ceremony.
The money came from the DOLE’s Integrated Livelihood Program and Emergency Employment Programs (DILEEP), a program run by the Bureau of Employees with Special Concerns (BWSC) that aims to help the working poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged workers reduce their vulnerability to risks by providing emergency employment and encouraging entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
The half-million award will be used by the Ileb FA to purchase their proposed portable rice mill, a hand tractor, and a thresher, according to PESO Officer Loyda Saboy.
She went on to say that the city government gave the funds to them as they are Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) of DOLE-Kalinga.
Those who are interested in the same assistance should organize a livelihood group, register with the DOLE-Kalinga, and submit a proposal for what they require.
Apart from FAs, other DILEEP beneficiaries include unpaid family workers, low-wage and seasonal workers, workers displaced or about to be displaced, marginalized and landless farmers, marginalized fisher-folks, women and youth, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, indigenous peoples, victims of armed conflicts, rebel returnees, and parents of child laborers.
DOLE-Kalinga also gave two beneficiaries a bicycle in addition to the livelihood check.
PESO-Tabuk identified Margarita Gumangan Magno and Emelda Sorizo Angeles, both of Barangay Dagupan Weste, as A4 category members who have complied with DOLE-Kalinga’s requirements for being fully vaccinated.
Other municipalities were also given bicycles to donate to their residents, however unlike Tabuk, which received two, the other municipalities only received one apiece.
