TABUK CITY, Kalinga– Members of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) of Barangay Nambucayan participated in today’s anti-drug symposium organized by the Tabuk City Police Station (TCPS) to strengthen the role of BADAC in addressing drug-related and other serious problems in the community.
During the activity, the City Barangay Affairs and Community Relations Office (CBACRO) in the person of Leonardo Tayaban led a spiritual strengthening session, while Arnold Layugan talked about CBACRO’s activities and Carmen Alcanzarine spoke about the indigenous basic concepts of “paniyaw,” “ngilin,” and “bain.”
Samuel Poking Jr. and Bingbing Ligante, both of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Kalinga, gave a presentation on RA 9165 (Comprehensive and Dangerous Drugs Act) to inform the audience about the key provisions of the law.
The drug symposium activity, according to TCPS PSMS Alvius Cordero, is a unique program of the Estrañero administration for BADAC members and stakeholders to involve the young sector in order to eliminate all forms of illegal drug-related activities in the city. All barangays are offered the program in the goal of establishing a drug-free community through collaboration amongst various authorities and offices.
