BONTOC, Mountain Province – At around 5:40 PM today, October 5, 2022, personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Municipal Health Office, members of the Bontoc Emergency Response Team (ERT), Bontoc Municipal Police Station (MPS), and Bontoc Municipal Fire Station (MFS), responded to a vehicular traffic accident along Balitian Bridge, Bontoc, Mountain Province.
As per initial interview, Mr. Santos Daping, driver of the privately-owned vehicle (Adventure), and five other passengers were on their way home to Nacagang, Sagada when their vehicle collided with a tricycle driven by Mr. Vincent Angannoy at around 5:35 PM.
Further interviews revealed that the driver of the adventure moved against the flow of traffic (counterflow) at the Balitian Bridge causing both the Adventure vehicle and the tricycle to collide.
Mr. Angannoy and the other two female passengers of the vehicle were immediately transported to Bontoc General Hospital by the personnel from the Bontoc MPS after the responding team administered first aid treatment onsite.
The driver and the other three passengers of the private vehicle were later transported to BoGH for further physical examination.
At around 7:30 PM, the driver of the private vehicle and his five passengers were medically cleared by their attending physician and were advised to go home.
Meanwhile, Mr. Angannoy is still admitted at the BoGH for further treatment and observation.
