BONTOC, Mountain Province – Fifteen Persons with Disability (PWDs) underwent training on Beauty Care/Nail Care on March 6-11, 2023, at the Persons with Disability and Senior Citizens Center of the Bontoc Municipal Capitol.
According to Municipal Disability Affairs Officer I Maria Codeo, the training aimed to provide essential skills and knowledge on nail care services as well as opportunities for self-employment to PWDs from the different barangays in the municipality.
Codeo added that the 15 PWDs from the different barangays have catered to a total of 51 clients who availed of manicure and pedicure services.
Relative to this, Ella May Passol of TESDA-MP gave a lecture aservicesrial on the following topics: anatomy & structure of the Nail; nail foot and hand disorders, bacteriology and sanitation; equipment and products required; getting your work area organized; using alternative sanitizer; perform cuticle treatments; removal of ry and dead skin; nail file; foot and hand massage; and nail polish.
In an interview, Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., remarked that the said training is a great opportunity for the PWDs to be equipped with new skills which may be a source of living as well as to develop their creativity.
Municipal Administrator Arthur Leonard Odsey represented Mayor Tudlong who had to attend to an equally important appointment.
The activity was initiated by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) – Mountain Province in partnership with the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) through the Municipal Disability Affairs Office (MDAO) and the Provincial Local Government Unit of Mountain Province (PLGU-MP).
Also present during the said activity were Executive Assistant Jocelyn Cullaling who represented Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan,Jr., TESDA-MP Provincial Director, Engr. Glenn Murphy, Senior Techical Education and Skills Development Specialist and Community Based Training Focal Person Christine Oliquiano, CTEC Vera Villanueva from PLGU-MP, MSWDO Araceli Shane Bayanos, and LEO III Jenelyn Caluza.
