LUNA, Apayao – Victims of Super Typhoon Egay in far flung areas of Calanasan town received aid as the Blackhawk requested by Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. to airlift the help arrived recently at the Apayao Eco-Tourism Sports Complex in Luna, Apayao.
The Blackhawk from the Philippine Air Force is ferrying the aid several times to designated landing areas as some roads are yet to be cleared and some communities cannot be reached by vehicles.
Earlier, the governor recommended the use of a chopper to immediately reach those isolated by the disaster and respond to victims whose basic survival needs might be running out.
DSWD-SWAD Apayao team leader Gretchen said that apart from the additional food packs to be delivered, cash aid worth PhP 5,000 and PhP 10,000 pesos shall be given to each of the less affected and severely affected families, respectively, as means to alleviate their current condition.
Aside from the regular funds of the DSWD and the provincial government, additional funds totaling to P13M was initiated by the Office of Cong. Eleanor “Leah” C. Bulut-Begtang. An additional fund of PhP 3M initiated by Senator Bong Revilla was also released thru the DSWD.
Among the affected remote areas, Barangay Butao in Calanasan, where the massive landslide happened, will be visited first, then other geographically isolated communities which are yet to be penetrated by relief operations shall be next.
The combined workforce of the Army, Airforce, PNP, DSWD, the provincial government and Calanasan municipal personnel shall deliver the said aid soonest, aiming to serve first those who have waited for the aid. By PG of Apayao
