LUNA, Apayao – Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Apayao has recently (November 8, 2016) enacted a resolution recognizing the contributions and assistance of all government organizations (GOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) which have assisted the Province of Apayao after the onslaught of Super Typhoon “Lawin.”
Several government and NGOS had come to the rescue and voluntarily provided basic services such as food, water, rice, medicines, money, among others to the Iapayaos considering that there are barangays that were isolated after the typhoon.
Vice Governor Remy Albano who authored the resolution said that the onslaught of Super Typhoon “Lawin” could have dismantled houses and ravaged farms and livelihoods, but absolutely it did never bring down the “bayanihan” spirit of the Filipinos.
“With the generosity, concern and kindness of these people, it is but proper to acknowledge them and through this resolution, we can show our sincere appreciation to all the officials, personnel and employees of government and non-government organizations who sacrificed their time, resources and even security just to help us,” Vice Governor Albano added.
The donors came as far as Davao City, in which the City of Davao provided a check amounting to P150,000.00. The San Miguel Corporation gave canned goods, bottled water and crackers while the Maynilad provided microfilters and water. The Philippine Air Force lent their chopper in the transportation of foods to the isolated barangays in the Municipalities of Calanasan and Kabugao while the Oxfam delivered Hyposol.
Other donors are still in the process of providing the aide based on the assessment they personally made after the typhoon struck the Province.
In the resolution, the Provincial Government of Apayao will be sending Certificate of Appreciation to respective GOs and NGOs who personally came and provided help as to show genuine gratefulness for their act of kindness.
