TUBA, Benguet – Mayor Ignacio Rivers disclosed the local government and the town’s private sector is ready for the celebration of its 3rd Ava festival and 105th founding anniversary scheduled from December 2-11, 2016.
The two-day Ava festival will kick off with the opening of the Ava inter-barangay Sportsfest followed by the streetdancing competition and drum and lyre dance competition and cultural streetdancing competition on December 2, 2016.
Other activities during the first day of the Ava festival include Gabi Cake presentation and Search for the Best Ava Processed By Product.
On December 3, 2016, there will be an ava-based nutri-snack competition that will be followed by the demo on best ava processed by product as well as sports exhibition games.
Regional Director Marie Venus Tan will serve as the town’s guest of honor and speaker during the opening ceremonies of the 3rd Ava festival while Rep. Ronald M. Cosalan will be the guest of honor ans speaker during the town’s 105th founding anniversary on December 11, 2016.
On December 5, 2016, the local government will be opening the agri-tourism trade fair followed by the Younth Congress on December 6-7.
The theme of the town’s founding anniversary is “Working Together Towards Agricultural Progress.”
The much-awated fun run for a cuase and the Employes’Night will be scheduled on December 8, 2016 followed by the Department of Education Day on December 9.
The thirteen barangays of the municipality will have the chance to bond together during the Barangay Day on December 10 while the main program for the town’s founding anniversary will be held on December 11 at the municipal grounds.
Rivera extended the invitation to all interestd individuals and groups to take time in visiting the municipality during the varius events scheduled for the Ava festival and the town’s founding anniversary for them to witness the cultural presentations and the products to be showcased to the public.
He said the different committtees in charge of the various activities for the twin celebrations are now finalizing the different events to make sure that the public will be appropriately entertained and will enoy the festivities and merry-making with the local residents and visitors.
“We are happy about the outcome of our preparations for our twin events and we hope that local residents and visitors will patronize the simple but meaningful activities that we were able to prepare for this year’s festivities,”Rivera stressed.
Tuba is one of the potential ecoturist destinations in the province because of the presence of scenic caves, waterfalls, agro-forestry plantations, among others which are now being readied for the expected influx of more foreign and domestic tourists wanting to explore new destinations outside Baguio City.
