La Trinidad, Benguet – The Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) Admirals suffered their second straight loss as their ship was sank by last year’s R1-CHESAA whipping boys, University of the Northern Philippines -Vigan Sharks last Saturday, August 26, 2017.
The Ilocos Sur based Sharks got their very first win in two years at the expense of the depleted CCDC squad. The Admirals simply had no answer scoring only 51 points in 4 quarters against the Ilocanos’ deadly whole game full court press.
The Admirals kept on giving away ball possession after possession to the Shark defenders and recorded the one of the most turnovers ever recorded in the tournament.
Cabico led the Sharks with 23 points while Paul Balagot fueled the Admirals with 14 points.
The Admirals has yet to find the missing ingredient who could fill the void left by Candonian sharpshooter Jayford Pacis, who could play all five positions and produce 30 points per game.
The team currently rely on the services of newly appointed team Captain Manuel Felix Jr., veterans Johnlee Laigo, Nestor Cuilan Jr., Balagot, Darwin Fernandez, Paul John Narvaez and 5 freshmen.
The Admirals will try to end the their 2-game losing streak as they battle it all out against perennial Pangasinan Champions, the University of Luzon Golden Tigers, at the Dagupan City Astrodome on August 31.
The Admirals defeated the golden Tigers last season at the UB gym, 84-81, when Pacis recorded a career high 45 points.
