BAGUIO CITY – The Province of Apayao was awarded Plaque of Recognition for its invaluable contributions and for advocating for the right to health of all yApayaos in which one huge achievement involves being declared malaria-free in 2021.
Said recognition was awarded during the Am-Among for Health and Gawad Kalusugan last October 20, 2023, in Crown Legacy Hotel, Baguio City.
The Apayao Provincial Health Office (PHO) was also honored with the “Exemplary Service in Access to Contraceptive Services Award” by the Regional Implementation Team for Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health.
This award serves as a proof to the office’s dedication in providing access to contraceptive services, allowing individuals and families to make informed choices about their reproductive health. The commitment, innovation, and relentless efforts of the PHO have played a pivotal role in empowering communities, making their contributions truly commendable.
Other offices in the province which were awarded were Pudtol Municipal Health Office (MHO) and Kabugao MHO for their exemplary achievements during the Measles Rubella-Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Activity 2023.
Meanwhile, Santa Marcela LGU has been recognized as the “Zero Open Defecation Awardee” for their support and commitment to achieving a Municipal-Wide Zero Open Defecation (Grade 01) Status. This achievement aligns with the Department of Health’s Philippine Approach to Total Sustainable Sanitation (PhATTS).
DOH-CAR leads GAWAD Kalusugan 2023
The Department of Health – Cordillera (DOH – CAR) took the lead in organizing the Gawad Kalusugan 2023 event, aiming to recognize outstanding health program implementers, top-performing provincial, municipal, city, and barangay health offices and facilities, along with Universal Health Care (UHC) implementation and advocacy partners, among others.
DOH-CAR Regional Director Dr. Rio Magpantay, extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the awardees, acknowledging their sacrifices, exceptional achievements, and dedication to delivering quality healthcare and advocating for UHC in the Cordilleras.
