LUNA, Apayao —To intensify the campaign against illegal drugs in the province, Apayao Governor Elias Bulut, Jr. directed the provision of 17 motorcycles to the Municipal Police Stations (MPS) in Apayao and the Provincial Police Office (PPO) including the Office of the Provincial Guard.
In a formal turn-over recently made in Conner, Apayao, Atty. Zaide Ravelo, Provincial Government Service Office Head, said 14 brand new Honda XR (150 cc) Motorcycles were distributed to the seven (7)MPS, two (2) for the provincial guards and one (1) for the PPO.
Governor Bulut together with the PNP Provincial Director PS Supt. Felix Dayag supervised the formal turn-over joined by the department heads of the provincial government, provincial and municipal officials, PNP personnel and the people of Conner.
The donation of said motorcycles is in line with Governor Bulut’s vision for a drug-free Apayao and considering the high terrain and geographical location of the province, motorcycles are necessary to further improve the services of the police forces in tracking down lawless elements in full support of the anti-drug campaign of President Duterte.
The need for motorcycles was brought out during the 2015 Drug Summit when the Provincial Peace and Order Council identified the lack of case build up and surveillance facilities as main issues and concerns regarding the drug problem in the province.
According to Atty. Jemar Apada, Chief of Staff of the Governor Bulut, the motorcycles will be used mainly by PNP officers on surveillance activities.
