LUNA, Apayao – It’s final, DepEd confirms Apayao will be hosting next year’s Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet.
Apayao Schools Division Superintendent Ronald Castillo has formally announced before the members of the Kapehan sa Kapitolyo chaired by Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr. that the Regional Management Committee has confirmed Apayao as the host of the 2019 CARAA Meet.
Castillo said they already received a letter from OIC Regional Director May Eclar confirming Apayao’s hosting next year through the decision made by the Regional Management Committee (RMC) on April 10 at Banaue, Ifugao during their 2nd Regular RMC Meeting.
Governor Bulut and all participants during the “Kapehan sa Kapitolyo,” a monthly gathering of all Provincial and Municipal Officials which include the heads of national line agencies, were delighted with the early pronouncement of Castillo.
The major concern of DepEd is the billeting of schools to be used by the delegates from the different provinces as well as the officiating officials.
Chief of School Government Operations Department (SGOD) Gilbert Villanueva presented the schools to be used and the suggested repairs to be conducted before the department heads of the province. The province is expecting more than 7,000 delegates from seven delegations following the split of Kalinga and Tabuk City and around 500 officials.
In the presentation, Castillo also suggested that they should be conducting sports trainings as early as summer vacation to scout potential CARAA players for the next school year.
Homecourt advantage indeed plays a big factor when it comes to sports. During the hosting of Apayao in CARAA 2013, the Apayao delegation finished 3rd in the overall rankings with the support of the home crowd before them. Likewise, the success of Abra as the host province this year puts pressure on Apayao as next host.
Castillo is expecting the full support and cooperation from the barangay officials to the provincial government level as well as the collective efforts from the people of Apayao to make this hosting successful.
He thanked Governor Bulut and sibling Representative Eleanor Bulut-Begtang for their active involvement in instigating valuable and notable development in DepEd Apayao not only in the academic aspects but also in the realm of sports for the benefit of all young Iapayaos.
