BAGUIO CITY – Acting in dispatch on the proposed Bayanihan 3, the House Appropriations Committee headed by Rep. Eric Go Yap will meet with government economic managers to ferret out the funding of the third financial assistance program, this time for all Filipinos.
The appropriations committee will receive it as soon as the consolidated version is finalized, said Rep. Yap, also Benguet province’s caretaker congressman said, while confirming that he had met Wednesday with budget chief Wendel Avisado on the funding requirement of Bayanihan 3.
The House Committee on Ways and Means on Monday approved the proposal to hand out a third financial assistance program standing at P405.6 billion. Every Filipino is set to receive P2,000 each to be given in two tranches.
According to panel chair Albay Rep. Joey Salceda, sources of revenue may include the capital withdrawal from “obese” GOCCs, e-sabong and Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation taxes.
Rep. Yap will formally meet with the budget department and the finance department on May 10 to formally discuss the funding sources of Bayanihan III, “kasi sila nakakaalam revenue and budget sources.”
Government economic managers are responsible in generating funds to support the implementation of various programs and services.
“As soon as economic managers make a go signal on the availability of funding sources,” Rep. Yap said, “there is no reason why we would not approve it in dispatch, all in the name of the welfare of the Filipino people reeling from this pandemic.” By HENT
