BANGUED, ABRA – The Cordillera Regional Development Council recognized the efforts of the Local Government Units of Baguio City, Bucay, Abra and 11 other Cordillera LGUs in forwarding local autonomy in 2019 during the 2020 1st quarter meeting in Bangued, Abra on March 5. The RDC-CAR conferred the 2019 Forwarding Local Autonomy Medal of Excellence (FLAME) awards to the LGUs in three categories.
Category 1 is Provinces and Highly Urbanized Cities, Category 2 is 1st to 3rd-class municipalities, and Category 3 is 4th to 6th-class municipalities.
The LGUs of Baguio City and Bucay, Abra were recognized as 2019 RDC-FLAME champions in categories 1 and 3, respectively. Mountain Province was recognized for its efforts under the Provinces and High Urbanized City category. Among 1st to 3rd class municipalities, the LGUs of La Trinidad and Buguias in Benguet, and Bontoc and Paracelis in Mountain Province were given special awards. Among 4th to 6th Class municipalities category, San Juan in Abra, Bauko in Mountain Province, Tublay in Benguet and the Ifugao municipalities of Asipulo, Lagawe, and Lamut, received special awards.
Through RDC Resolution no. 50 s. 2014, with NEDA-CAR as the chair of the Regional Awards Committee, the FLAME awards recognizes Cordilleran LGUs for their exemplary efforts towards achieving good governance, dynamic participation in RDC activities and initiatives; active involvement in the region towards their efforts of the RDC; their cooperation in regional development; and their participation in the region’s pursuit of Cordillera autonomy.
