LUNA, Apayao – Apayao Lone District Representative Hon. Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang, spearheaded the inauguration of a newly completed two-storey multipurpose building, now serving as Department of Education (DepEd) Apayao’s administrative hub in San Isidro Sur Elementary compound earlier today, April 19.
With a total project cost of PhP9.9 million, the construction falls under the Convergence and Special Support program-basic infrastructure program-multipurpose facilities, aimed at bolstering social services essential for Luna’s educational progress. Constructed under the leadership of Rep. Bulut-Begtang and Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr., through the Department of Public Works and Highways Apayao Second District Engineering Office, the facility spans 142.5 square meters, housing various essential areas such as office spaces, conference rooms, comfort rooms, and dining facilities.
In her address, Bulut-Begtang emphasized the role of good governance in driving infrastructure development, highlighting Apayao’s successful practices in this regard and acknowledging the collective efforts of various government agencies. She expressed pride in Apayao’s progress, especially in light of its improved standing among the country’s provinces.
“This is the beauty of collaboration and unity, we are very proud that we are now number four on the list of provinces with low poverty incidence nationwide…we are doing good,” the lawmaker said.
Governor Bulut, through his Chief of Staff Verlimae Baldivino, emphasized that the completion of the building symbolizes partnership, dedication, and a steadfast commitment to enhancing education for future learners.
Moreover, Assistant Regional Director Ronald Castillo of the Cordillera office of the DepEd also commended the facility as a tangible initiative of Apayao leaders aimed at continuously improving the DepEd. He highlighted the challenge within the DepEd of insufficient budget for offices, often resulting in classrooms doubling as office spaces. However, he expressed that this completed building is now relevant, conducive, and responsive to DepEd’s operations and services, providing a much-needed dedicated space for administrative functions.
Schools Division Superintendent Irene Angway echoed these sentiments, attributing it to the concerted efforts of Apayao’s leaders aimed at positively impacting the future of yApayao learners. By Jomela Dela Torre
