Mayor Benjamin Magalong city looks forward to partnering the city’s computerization programs with the Population on Commission’s (PopCom) Baseline Census for the Establishment of Registry of Barangay Inhabitants and Migrants (RBIM).
The RBIM, has been partially implemented in City Camp Proper, Lourdes Extension, South Drive, St. Joseph Village, Mines View, Gibraltar, Lualhati and Manuel Roxas; PopCom Officer Job David Manalang reported.
The census is about identification, demographic details such as nationality, religion, ethnicity, education, economic activities, health information, socio-civic, and migration information. The program could provide small scale and large scale database for communities, biometrics and is ID-system ready, for data management and analysis as well.
The mayor was elated that information anent efforts to control the spread of Covid-19 in Baguio communities may be extracted in RBIM records.
Exclusive information on clustered households, the number of Senior Citizens in certain barangays, and SCs living alone and those with commorbidities to allow health workers to provide services and immunity capacities, are valuable as we protect those with vulnerabilities, Mayor Magalong said.
He thus gave instructions to fast-track records for health workers’ information.
Other pragmas of PopCom include Project KABSAT and The Challenge Initiative (TCI) to address the challenge on adolescence pregnancy.
“The orientation given us clearly illustrates the need to address the alarming data where the teen-age moms are getting younger,” the mayor stated in his letter of intent to join the challenge. “We are positive that the program will address the problem and create a huge impact on the youth,” he added.
The TCI shall be actively participated in by the city through the City Population Services Office, Health Services Office. Participating cities shall be provided with technical assistance and guidance, is implemented in partnership with foundations, school of public health, PopCom and is based on the Urban Public Health institute. It is also done with best-practice interventions and with real-time data for decision-making.
Coaching and mentoring shall also be provided, which is expected to improve data management, information and analysis, campaign and advocacy development, and global communication and participation, it was reported through the PopCom.
At the end of the TCI, the city is expected to address Adolescent and Youth Health and Development Strategies, Policy Development and Adequate Financing for integrated and YHD programs, multisectoral collaboration and community engagement, challenges and bottlenecks in data management and service provision.
Popcom’s other project Knowledge and Basic Services Access Terminal (KABSAT) was designed and is being implemented for youth inquiries and information programs. It provides a managing system for clients and services provided, search program and service to identify proximity to facilities, record and referral system to track clients’ status; and reporting system for clients’ information and concerns, demographic data. – Julie G.
