The city government identified some twelve priority investment areas in the city to guide investors in infusing their funds towards the future progress and development of the city.
City Budget Officer Leticia O. Clemente presented to local businesses the said priority investment areas during a recent investment forum held at the City Hall multipurpose hall.
She disclosed that one of the major investment areas in the city is green manufacturing and exporting industries engaged in waste minimization, clean technology and pollution prevention.
The city budget officer added that creative industries, particularly the digital transformation center, Smart City mobility system and information technology-enabled services, are also part of the priority investment areas.
The city is also enticing investors involved in tourism-oriented and related establishments such as parks development, eco park and multi-level greenhouse at Botanical Garden, green water project and sidewalk rehabilitation and convention centers and cultural preservation centers to partner with the city government for the said purposes.
Further, the city also wants to implement pioneering strategic projects, such as the market development and slaughterhouse modernization, that requires partnership with the private sector.
In terms of mass housing, Clemente said that the city government, in partnership with concerned government agencies, is undertaking the Luna Terraces housing project and wants to further implement other low-cost mass housing projects with the assistance of investors.
On water and energy resources development, she claimed the city government is inclined to pursue the put up of a waste-to-energy project, rehabilitate the city-owned Asin minihydro power plants and revive the bulk water supply and distribution project.
According to her, the city government also wants to venture on research and development with the establishment of centers of excellence, invocation centers and fabrication laboratories and business incubation hubs and co-working spaces.
Clemente stipulated the city is pushing for ecologically sound liquid and solid waste management enterprises primarily focused on the upgrade and expansion of the Baguio sewage treatment plant and waste-to-energy project.
For mass transportation and facilities, the city government is pushing for the put up of the inter-modal transport terminal, multi-level parking, cable car and elevated monorail and traffic or parking system.
On the other hand, sports facilities and development is also an investment area such as the ongoing construction of the youth convergence and indoor sports complex, athletes quarters and tennis court rehabilitation.
The city is also eying private public partnerships for the market re-development, enter-modal transport terminal, slaughterhouse modernization project, multi-level parking facilities, Smart mobility and transportation system and elevated monorail and cable car.
Clemente underscored the importance of the preservation and development of historical and heritage sites such as the Dominican Heritage Hill and Nature Park conservation project.
