TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Barangay Dilag commemorated its 50th founding anniversary under the theme “Overcoming challenges amid Pandemic through Unity and Flexibility” in a three (3) day event filled with games and entertainment.
In accordance with Provincial Board of Kalinga-Apayao Resolution No. 16, Dilag and barangays Laya East and West were established on January 26, 1973. The 3 barangays were all formerly part of Barangay Laya before its subdivision.
In his message, Punong Barangay Henry Bangao, Jr., expressed his gratitude to all of his constituents for participating in the event and for including other tribes who are not native to their barangay.
“Ammuk nga adu pay ti tribes nga ada dituy ayan tayu ket sapay kuma ta nu sumaruno, ad-adu pay iti sumali. I-encourage ko nga sumali kayu ta dakayu metlang iti agparparagsak iti fiesta tayu,” he said.
According to Bangao, the festival is held in April of each year because it matches with their harvest season and it is a way of showing their thanks to the Almighty and their appreciation for their constituents.
Henry Gupaal and Enrique Baliang, who spoke on behalf of the mayor said his absence is due to the untimely death of a family member but nevertheless sends his best wishes to the barangay’s residents for a jovial festival.
Gupaal continued by saying that everyone, not only those from the barangay, must work as hard as they can to boost one another up. He assured them of the continuous support of the City Local Government Unit of Tabuk (CLGU) to their barangay.
Baliang, in his message reiterated the value of teaching the kids of the barangay to grow up respectable and that they should never forget traditions passed on to them.
