LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The provincial government lined up some forty-five activities led by government and supported by the private sector for the month-long celebration of this year’s Adivay Festival and 123rd founding anniversary of the province.
The theme of this year’s festivities is ‘Benguet: Gateway to Unforgettable Getaways.’
Gov. Melchor D. Diclas said that the Adivay festivities will fire off with the traditional Kapihan sa Benguet to be held at the Ben Palispis Auditorium on October 24, 2023.
On October 25-26, 2023, there will be a Benguet cultural exchange and training on cultural ensemble at the Benguet Sports Complex gymnasium which will be followed by the Adivay kick-off program and the pre-pageant for the Search for Mr. and Ms. Benguet 2023 at the Capitol grounds on November 6, 2023.
Mining stakeholders will be actively participating in the Mining and Environment Forum to be held at the Benguet Sports Complex gymnasium on November 9, 2023 followed by the opening of the agro-industrial trade fair, 2nd Adivay Quiz Bee in and Benguet cultural dance performance on November 11, 2023.
The different municipalities will also be showcasing their agri-tourism destinations through the opening of the fair at the Benguet Sports Complex on November 14, 2023 followed by the traditional acoustic competition on November 15, 2023 at the Benguet Sports Complex gymnasium.
On October 16, 2023, the activities that had been lined up include the Senior Citizens Adivay at the Benguet Sports Complex gymnasium; skills competitions at the trade fair area in Wangal; inter-local government unit volleyball championships at the Capital covered court; Farmer’s Day at the cold chain area and Stellar Health Achievements yearly Awards (SHAYAW) at the Ben Palispis auditorium.
The inter-local government unit basketball championship will be held at the Capital covered court while the Search for Mr. and Ms. Benguet pre-pageant will be held at the Sports Complex gymnasium on November 17, 2023.
The Benguet Fusion Fashion Showcase will be held at the Benguet Sports Complex gymnasium on November 18, 2023.
The annual Children’s Congress, the Lapan, rabbit meat, cooking contest and the awarding of the Best Integrated Farming System and Best Rabies Program Implementer will be held on November 21, 2023.
The Benguet Awards program will be held at the New Town Plaza Hotel in Baguio city on November 22, 2023.
On November 23, 2023, there will be the Benguet Day grand parade followed by a grand can֮ao at the Benguet Sports Complex and Battle of the Bands at the gymnasium.
The Agri-Tourism fair will come to a close on November 24, 2023 which will be followed by the Coronation Night of the Search for Mr. and Ms. Benguet on November 25, 2023, all happening at the Benguet Sports Complex gymnasium.
Biking enthusiasts will have the chance to participate in the Hari ng Ahon Bike Challenge from the Ambuclao dam area to Beckel; the annual dance sports at the Ben Palispis Hall and the closing of the agro-industrial trade fair on November 26, 2023.
The event entitled Jesus Reigns will be held on November 27, 2023 followed by the mass wedding of couples at the St. Paul Parish in Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet on November 28, 2023.
Employees and officials of the Benguet provincial government will be participating in the Employees Adivay Night at the Capitol covered court on December 1, 2023 while the annual Adivay and Benguet founding anniversary activities will commence with the Christmas lighting on the same day.
On December 2, 2023, bodybuilders will show their prowess during the bodybuilding competition that will be held at the Ben Palispis Hall while the Adivay Fusion Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) competition will be held at the Benguet Sports Complex gymnasium on December 9, 2023.
Diclas urged the people of Benguet and visitors alike to patronize the various activities lined up for this year’s Adivay Festival and founding anniversary to ensure the successful conduct of this year’s celebration considering that the province is still recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
