BESAO, Mountain Province – A new patient transport vehicle (PTV) donated by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) was blessed and turned over to Besao District Hospital (BeDH) last January 9, 2024.
The blessing was officiated by Father Princel T. Balitog of St. Benedict Episcopal Church while the turnover ceremony was led by Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr., together with Vice Governor Francis O. Tauli, Mayor Bryne “Butch” O. Bacwaden and BeDH Chief of Hospital Dolores D. Dicdican.
According to Dr. Dicdican, the vehicle was acquired as a donation from the PCSO which she said has been requested for the hospital since 2017. “With the help and guidance of Governor Lacwasan, Jr., Board Member and former Mayor of Besao Johnson D. Bantog II, Mayor Bacwaden and Executive Assistant Anthony A. Pandosen, our hospital received an ambulance as Christmas and new year’s gift,” Dicdican said.
In his message, Governor Lacwasan, said that the development of provincial government hospitals, such as the BeDH, is one among the many things that the provincial government wants to achieve to provide the province’s constituents with better health services.
“The provincial government is tireless in helping its hospitals in finding means to provide them with the equipment they need,” Lacwasan said.
In relation to development, the Governor also made mention of the provincial roads that are endorsed to be converted into national roads with the help of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and the Regional Development Council. Among those he mentioned were the Besao-Panabungen-Quirino road and the Payeo-Tubo-Abra road.
Moreover, Vice Governor Tauli encouraged the end users to keep the PTV well-maintained for a longer utilization.

Meanwhile, Board Member Bantog said that aside from the PTV, the BeDH is in for more blessing as an amount of PhP5 million was allotted for the improvement of the newly constructed building connected beside the BeDH and PhP30 million for the construction of a new one replacing the very old building.
Also in attendance at the event were Board Member Alfonso A. Ligos, Jr., Vice Mayor Elizabeth A. Buyagan, members of the Sangguniang Bayan Besao, barangay officials, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Perry D. Bacwaden from the Department of Interior and Local Government, employees of the BeDH and priests from Besao Deanery. By MP Press Release
