BONTOC, Mountain Province – This capital town received numerous awards from the Department of Health (DOH) for its utmost delivery of quality health care to the public and disaster risk reduction management initiatives.
Thus, Bontoc is one among the municipalities in the Cordillera Region who is on the spotlight during 2018 Regional Gawad Kalusugan Harmonized Awards Ceremony on November 16, 2018 held in Baguio City.
The Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) is awarded a Certificate of Recognition for being one of the Top Performing LGU in Mountain Province. The DOH – Regional Office recognized the Bontoc LGU for its exemplary efforts and steadfast commitment of health reforms based on the 2017 LGU Health Scorecard.
The Chico River Service Delivery Network (SDN) comprising Bontoc, Sadanga, Bontoc General Hospital all in Mountain Province, and Tinglayan, Kalinga garnered 3rd Place for the Most Functional Service Delivery Network in the Cordillera Region. The Chico River SDN received a Plaque of Recognition and a check prize amounting to P150, 000.
Also, in recognition of its active efforts, programs and initiatives on Integrated Vector Management, the municipality of Bontoc received a Certificate of Recognition and check prize amounting to P10, 000.
Further, Bontoc received a Certificate of Appreciation for its support to the National Voluntary Blood Services Program of the DOH – Center for Health Development (CHD) in the region.
Furthermore, the Bontoc Rural Health Unit (RHU) was given a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of its unwavering support and outstanding commitment to the implementation of the Family Planning Program and Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health (RPRH) Law.
Aside from this, Bontoc received a Plaque of Recognition for its invaluable support and contribution to the overall provision of services during the onslaught of Typhoon Ompong.
Relative to the multiple awards brought home by Bontoc, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Diga Kay Gomez said that the Municipal Health Office (MHO) as the frontline of the municipal government in the delivery of health services, together with their partner stakeholders down to the barangay level shall sustain the programs and good practices for the health and welfare of the public.
Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey lauded and thanked those in health services and their partner stakeholders in the delivery of quality health care to the constituents.
The mayor also assured the continuous full support of the municipal government on health programs as he solicited the usual support and cooperation of everyone.
“All our efforts and initiatives in the delivery of utmost quality health care to our people will always come into fruition if we support and help each other,” Odsey added.
It the recent survey conducted by the Research Section of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) under the 2018 Citizen Satisfaction Index System (CSIS) of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the constituents are satisfied with the programs and services of the Bontoc LGU.
In the survey, the health sector garnered the highest satisfaction rating which fully supports the awards given by the DOH to the municipality of Bontoc.
