BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) joins the townspeople in requesting the internet providers for a better internet connection.
Recognizing the need for reliable internet service and responding to the constant and growing clamor of the people for improved internet connectivity, the Sangguniang Bayan passed a resolution sponsored by Councilor Jerome Tudlong requesting all internet service providers in the municipality to improve and upgrade their internet services.
Specified in the resolution is the submission of copies to concerned internet providers for them to upgrade their systems because of slow internet speed, unstable network signal especially now that face-to-face transactions are discouraged due to the pandemic, and very slow response to calls for technical assistance.
Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey supported the appeal of the consumers and emphasized the importance of fast and reliable internet service in the municipality especially during this time of the pandemic.
“The restrictions brought about by the pandemic required us to turn to online services, thus imposing the need for a faster and more reliable internet connection. An improved internet connection is not only for the students who utilize the internet for blended learning and research but also the employees with work from home arrangements,” he said.
With this, the mayor urged the network providers to provide the long- overdue upgrade to their infrastructure, put-up additional towers aside from the existing ones, and build towers in barangays where there is no network signal.
He added that this is a win-win solution for the service providers and the customers as more users will avail of the services if they are satisfied. By Christy Mae Che-es & Alpine L. Killa
