BONTOC, Mountain Province – Five barangays of this municipality were recognized by the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) for early submission of their 2020 Annual Budget.
Barangays Dalican, Maligcong, Poblacion, Samoki, and Tocucan received Certificates of Recognition as Best Performing Barangays as evidenced by their early submission of the 2020 Barangay Budget and Sangguniang Kabataaan (SK) Budget during the regular Monday Flag Raising Ceremony on November 18, 2019 at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol grounds.
The Punong Barangays of the recognized villages are Reynald Waking, Sr., John Lac-ayen, Glenn Saavedra, Sr., Joseph Toyokan, and Wilbert Padngaran, respectively.
This is the first time that the Bontoc LGU through the Municipal Budget Office gave recognition to barangays which submitted their Annual Budgets for the ensuing fiscal year to the Sanggunian Bayan not later than the 16th of October of the current fiscal year.
Prior to the preparation of 2020 Barangay and SK Budgets, personnel from the Municipal Budget Office have been going around the barangays to conduct Information Education and Communication (IEC) Campaigns in the preparation of the Barangay and SK Budgets.
Municipal Budget Officer Aida Lingbanan expressed high hopes that the recognition received by the five barangays would motivate the other barangays to prepare and submit their Annual Budget before the set deadline.
Lingban explained that the early preparation and submission of the 2020 Barangay Budget and SK Budget for review and declaring it operative by the Sangguniang Bayan has a great impact in the implementation of barangay government programs, projects and activities (PPAs).
She added that earlier submission of barangay budgets for the ensuing year means earlier implementation, and the delivery of services to the constituents will not be hampered.
Meanwhile, she happily shared that the barangay governments have also levelled -up in the packaging and presentation of their 2020 Barangay and SK Budgets.
In the previous years, the barangays have been submitting their Annual Budget compiled in a brown folder. However, copies of the 2020 Annual Budget of all the barangays in Bontoc are now submitted in hard-bound and the cover page are photos promoting the tourist destinations in their respective barangays.
