BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Municipal Health Office (MHO)/ Rural Health Unit (RHU) of the Bontoc Municipal Government is open half-day during Saturdays.
Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Diga Kay Gomez announced this during the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) meeting on October 24, 2018 at Barangay Tocucan, Bontoc.
It is noteworthy that it is only the Bontoc MHO of all the MHOs in Mountain Province that opens even in a weekend which has been a practiced for years now.
According to Dr. Gomez, the free immunization of children is the service being rendered by the personnel of the Bontoc MHO during Saturday.
As employees working in the government, she said that they understand that not all can be able to go to the barangay health centers and at the MHO to have their children immunized because perhaps of conflict of schedule at work. Thus, the MHO personnel want to ease the burden of working parents by reporting to work even on Saturdays.
“This is in consideration of the situation of the working parents to have more access for the services of the MHO,” Dr. Gomez added.
Aside from this, the issuance of Medical Certificates such as for the purpose of the Renewal of Driver’s License which is now from Monday to Friday. In the past years the MHO does not release Medical Certificates during Wednesday.
The Pre-natal check-up which is scheduled every Wednesday is now also from Mondays to Fridays. However, it is preferable for pregnant women to visit the MHO on Wednesdays.
The MHO has transferred to the ground floor of the newly constructed Municipal Capitol. It has a Maternal Neonatal Child and Nutrition Services Section and General Health Services Section. Thus, the MHO can accommodate and cater to a larger number of clients.
