TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Pierre Galicia of the city’s Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) has recently issued a statement to Tabuk Life to clarify a recent controversy being thrown at City Mayor Darwin Estrañero.
Galicia noted that in a Facebook account of a certain Gustavo Fernando, the later questioned why the DCE Builders Corporation which is involved in construction services ‘business permit tax’ is low of which he claimed that a sari-sari store is even paying more.
According to Galicia, DCE BUILDERS CORP is registered formerly as DCESTRAÑERO CORP.
The corporation he said was first registered on February 19, 2018 with a capital investment of P37,974,000 and local business tax payment of P21,347.
“It was subsequently renewed on January 04, 2019 with declared zero gross income having no projects in 2018 and paid an amount of P1,610.
In the same year on October 2, 2019, the corporation changed its name from DCESTRAÑERO CORP to DCE BUILDERS CORP and paid an amount of P1,610,” he explained.
He noted that the basis of computation of business tax is the annual gross income of the preceding year.
“Therefore, since the corporation is a new business in the 2018 and has no income, the basis of the computation of business tax for the fiscal year 2019 would be zero,” he said.
This year, the DCEBUILDERS CORP renewed its business permit and paid their business tax amounting to P100,713.84, he said.
Galicia said he needs to shed light on the matter considering that the controversies being created by certain individual even using pseudo accounts are merely for the purpose to discredit the mayor putting the leaders in bad light and the city government as a whole.
“This will be our first and final reaction on the matter and it would be prudent that should a query be made it should be done in a proper channel not through the social media,” he pointed out adding that the BPLO is open for any concerns from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Meanwhile, the city mayor thanked the BPLO for the clarification as he continues to encourage the other offices to remain steadfast in the delivery of government services despite the incessant mud-slinging against him and his administration. By GGD
