City officials strongly urged owners of business establishments in the city having outdoor or indoor monitors or LCD signboards to play, promote and display vital information on programs and updates of the city government to widely share such information with the public.
Under Resolution No. 644, series of 2020, signed by Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong, city legislators stated that as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR), customer service relations and as a contribution to the city, especially during the prevailing difficult times caused by the ongoing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the use of the indoor or outdoor monitor or LCD signboards owned by businesses can be effectively and efficiently utilized to properly share relevant information to the citizens.
The council said that gearing towards the new normal, various measures have been adopted and now being implemented by concerned government agencies, the city government and the private sector to ensure the health and safety of the people, especially in reminding them of their compliance to the basic health and safety protocols, such as the mandatory wearing of face masks and shields, the observance of proper distancing, the practice of personal hygiene, among others, to prevent them from contracting and subsequently spreading the deadly virus in the city.
The council stipulated the city government, through the City Public Information Office, had been constantly posting various updates on programs, projects and activities and other updates on social media and other information bulletins to inform citizens on the latest developments inside and outside the city.
However, the body claims it is best for the city government to saturate all avenues for the sharing of such vital information, especially within business establishments as these are frequented by the people where they can also get the necessary information for them to update on what is happening around them.
According to the council, it is important for the government and the private sectors to enhance their partnership during these difficult times to distribute important updated information to the citizens on health and safety protocols, aside from understanding the reasons on the implementation of new policies, programs, projects and activities geared towards promoting the welfare of the greater majority.
Earlier, owners of some business establishments installed indoor and outdoor signboards in their establishments to promote their products, services and to share vital information on health and safety protocols and the various programs and projects, not only of the local government. but also of concerned government agencies that include advisories for the information and education of the public.
