La Trinidad, Benguet – President Rodrigo Duterte formally appointed the son of a deceased boardmember to take the latter’s place as a member of the provincial board and to serve his unexpired term of office.
Duterte signed the appointment papers of Neptali Camsol last January 16, 2020 for him to replace the position vacated by his father, the late Boardmember Apolinario Camsol, who succumbed to a lingering illness last year.
The younger Camsol is the second child of the Bordmember. He is a graduate of Bachelor of Laws at the University of Baguio (UB) and is currently working as a farmer in Buguias, Benguet.
“We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to all those, who, in one way or the other, extended the assistance to our family in the processing of my appointment papers from the start up to the time that the same was eventually released to me,” Camsol stressed.
The new Provincial Boardmember formally took his oath before Gov. Melchor D. Diclas and will start sitting as a regular member of the provincial board starting Monday, February 10, 2020.
Camsol will be taking charge of the committee chairmanships that were vacated by his father such as the committees on ways and means, senior citizens among others but the same will still be dependent on the members of the provincial board following their regular meeting on Monday.
According to him, he will pursue the legislation of measures that will contribute in the overall efforts of concerned government agencies and the local government to advance the state of the province’s agriculture sector and the welfare of the farmers among other marginalized sectors in the different parts of the province.
Camsol appealed to the representatives of various sectors in the province to provide him with the issues and concerns that need appropriate action from the provincial government or the provincial board when the same needs the passage of legislative measures.
Under existing laws, rules and regulations, vacancies that will be created due to the incapacity or death of concerned officials will be filled up by appointments that will be issued by the President and local chief executives depending on the position that will be vacated.
Further, the political parties that created the vacancies can nominate a member of the said party that will take the place of the official that created the vacancy for appointment that will be issued for the nominee to occupy the vacated position.
Camsol assured the people and officialdom of the province that he will dedicate his time and effort in providing them with quality service as what his father had been doing to help in bringing to the people the services from his office.
The older Camsol served as the Municipal Mayor of Buguias before being given the mandate to serve as provincial boardmember and a member of the Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) which is the official party of President Duterte when he ran for the presidency during the May 2016 synchronized national and local elections
