Senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano on Tuesday expressed gratitude for the strong support shown by the public for the premiere episode of the “Cayetano in Action with Boy Abunda” (CIA with BA) which premiered on February 5, 2023.
CIA with BA is a late-night public service program airing Sundays on GMA 7 in which the Cayetano siblings serve as on-air legal advisers for two parties arguing over matters related to family, finance, and other topics usually brought before barangay justice officials.
“We are humbled by the reception of our kababayans given our little contribution to help those who need legally-informed decisions. We are overwhelmed by all the support,” Senator Alan said on February 7, 2023.
“Patuloy niyo po sanang suportahan ang aming hangaring matulungan at ma-inform ang ating mga kababayang walang kakayanang humingi ng tulong sa mga tunay na may alam sa batas,” he added.
On the program’s premiere episode, the Cayetanos – both lawyers and legislators – helped resolve a dispute between a wife and her niece, with the former accusing the latter of having an affair with and receiving financial support from her husband.
The Cayetanos also enlightened a mother who was having conflicted feelings about her husband’s inclination to prioritize the financial need of his brother in need of regular dialysis.
The show’s positive welcome was reflected in the comments from netizens on the official social media accounts of the program.
“Heto mas OK ‘to, mga tunay na abogado. ‘Di tulad n’ung [iba] puro journalist na feeling abogado,” a Youtube user said.
“Ang ganda ng paliwanag. Talagang may aral at matututunan,” a netizen also wrote.
“Keep up the good work!” another Facebook user said.
Cayetano vowed to deliver more informative and inspiring episodes in the coming Sundays, saying it is the continuation of the legacy of their father, the late Senator Rene Cayetano, who also brought free legal advice to the public through the program “Compañero y Compañera” from 1997 to 2001.
“Ang gusto namin ni Ate Pia at Tito Boy ay talagang mailapit sa inyo ang batas, malaman ninyo ang inyong mga karapatan, at matuto sa makukulay na kwento ng ating mga kababayan,” he said.
