TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Best practices of various cooperatives in Mountain Province on mortuary aid program (MAP) were presented to the managers of registered cooperatives of District 2.
During the Koop Kapehan event held today at the Ipasil Credit Cooperative office in Bulanao, Engr. Ryan Jose of the City Cooperatives and Enterprise Development Office (CCEDO) specifically mentioned the All Saints Credit Cooperative, Sagada Multipurpose Cooperative, Besao Multipurpose Cooperative, and Treasure Link Cooperative Society where a specific amount with a lower service fee is collected for the MAP.
Although not currently used by cooperatives in this country, he pointed out that these practices may be used to generate more cash by adding the cost of providing funeral benefits to the service price.
During the meeting, Jose reminded the participants of their compliance to regulatory bodies like that of the Cooperative Development Authority for the annual reports, Bureau of Internal Revenue for the application of Certificate of Tax Exemption, city government for the business permit and accreditation to the Sangunian Panlungsod, and Department of Agriculture for accreditation.
The CCEDO promotes the improvement of the following key areas including compliance; enterprise development and strengthening; data gathering, information, and promotion; organizational development and strengthening; and brigada kooperatiba, in order to strengthen cooperative operations regardless of category.
