City officials recently granted authority to the Hepatology Society of the Philippines (HSP) co-organized by the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) and the Department of Health (DOH) to conduct the LIVERUN 2024: ‘Malusog na Atay, Masayang Buhay,’ and advocacy run on January 6, 2024. Under Resolution No. 758, series of 2024, local legislators stated that the Committee on Youth Welfare and Sports Development in its 3rd indorsement dated December 4, 2023, recommended approval of the above request subject to the provisions of Ordinance No. 89, series of 2023.
The council required the organizers to comply with the provisions of Ordinance No. 89, series of 2023 and the minimum health protocols prescribed by the Inter-Agency task force for the management of emerging infectious diseases, including the safety of the runners and pedestrians, and that the city government has no liability for any untoward incident that may happen,
Further, the organizer or race director shall closely coordinate with the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) relative to the conduct of the event.
Earlier, the City Council considered a letter dated November 21, 2023 of Dr. Marie Ellaine Velasquez, LIVERUN Coordinator; Rosario V. Alberto, Race organizer/Race Director; and noted by Medical Center Chief Dr. Ricardo B Runez, Jr., all of BGHMC, requesting the issuance of a permit to conduct the 2024: ‘Malusog na Atay, masayang Buhay, an advocacy run scheduled on January 6, 2024 at 4:30 am onwards from BGHMC main building façade to Military Cutoff, South Drive, Outlook Drive with a turning point at the Mansion House out and back.
