City officials recently commended and congratulated the Catholic-run Saint Louis University (SLU) for being the first higher education institution in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) with a water refilling station for free for all students, employees and visitors.
In a resolution, local legislators stated that the recent water refilling station project of the institution is worthy of praise and emulation considering that it has the primary purpose of ecological preservation and health protection to combat climate change and contribute in the global efforts to save the deteriorating condition of the planet.
SLU reportedly inaugurated its water refilling station providing purified drinking water for free for students, faculty members, guests and visitors.
The council pointed out that this noble project will definitely encourage students and even employees to bring their tumblers and refill them with water at the established refilling station instead of buying water in a plastic bottle, thus, minimizing carbon footprints in a bid to save planet Earth from the serious negative impact of climate change.
Further, the project is in response to the call of Pope Francis’ Laudato Si Goal 4: adoption of sustainable lifestyle to avoid or stop using plastic bottles for ecological preservation and also responsive to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 on good health and wellbeing, 6 on clean water and sanitation and 11 on sustainable cities and communities.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the SLU administration for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
