City officials recently expressed their appreciation and recognition to the Women Involved in Nation Building, Inc. (WIN) as an invaluable partner In empowering women in the country in time for the celebration of the 2024 National Women’s month this March in the city.
Under Resolution No. 157, series of 2024, local legislators stated that in the celebration of the 2024 National Women’s month this March, the local government recognizes WIN’s exemplary and continue contribution to empowering Filipino women all over the country, which deserves recognition and utmost appreciation by all whom they helped to uplift through the years.
WIN is a non-governmental organization (NGO) working for the promotion and protection of the rights and welfare of women and children and eliminating gender inequality in the country.
Further, it was formed on march 8, 1987 as a women’s group asserting the recognition of women’s role in strengthening democracy and advancing economic and social progress, and continually promotes capacity building through seminar-workshops among local officials, government workers and law enforcement personnel.
One of WIN’s pioneering achievements was the conduct of a nationwide training on the Filipino Women’s Guide to Winning Elections in the 1990s and other significant projects such as the orientation of women’s issues for the Beijing platform for action giving out a women in nation building award and the continuous conduct of women and health trainings for local government officials.
WIN envisions to be the leading NGO engaged in enhancing the capacity of women in nation building, and relative to this, it will be conducting its 25th annual congress at Hotel Supreme.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to WIN for its information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
