City officials recently congratulated the Iglesia ni Cristo in the commemoration of its 109th founding anniversary last July 27, 2023.

Further, the local government recognizes the significant contributions of the Iglesia ni Cristo and commends its leaders for their programs and services in the upliftment of the social, physical and spiritual well being of its members and residents of the city.
Iglesia ni Cristo is an independent Christian denomination that originated in the country. It was founded by Felix Ysiagon Manalo in 1913 and officially registered with the Philippine government on July 27, 1914.
Through the years, the church has grown rapidly from its first local congregation in Punta, Sta. Ana, Manila to other parts of the country and across the globe.
The council stated that the Iglesia ni Cristo is deeply concerned with the spiritual enlightenment and upliftment of the social wellbeing of its members and the society as a whole.
Moreover, it undertakes socio-civic programs nationwide and worldwide such as its main humanitarian program called the Lingap sa Mamamayan or the Aid to Humanity established in 1981.
This program delivers medical, dental and livelihood services that benefit a large number of people and communities in the different parts of the country and various parts of the world.
In recognition of the exemplary faith of the Iglesia ni Cristo in leading its members towards spiritual enlightenment and good citizenry, Republic Act (RA) 9647 otherwise known as the Commemoration of the Founding Anniversary of Iglesia ni Cristo Act was passed on July 28, 2008 which declared July 27 of every year as a special national working holiday in commemoration of the founding anniversary of the Iglesia ni Cristo in the country.
According to the council, for 109 years, under the able stewardship of its past and its primary leaders, Executive Minister-Founder Felix Y. Manalo, Eran֮o Manalo and present Executive Minister Eduardo V. Manalo, Iglesia ni Cristo continues to touch and change lives of many people across race, ethnicity, gender and social status.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the Iglesia ni Cristo for its information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action.
