The Regional Statistics Committee of the Cordillera (RSC-CAR) presented its 2021 accomplishments during the Regional Development Council (RDC) 2021 Performance Review and 2022 Planning Conference on 28 February 2022.
Mr. Aldrin Federico R. Bahit. Jr., Chief Statistical Specialist of the Cordillera office of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA-CAR) reported that the RSC-CAR had been the first to prepare the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Watch in the country, the official repository of SDG indicators in the region. He mentioned that the Committee’s Task Force on Tourism prepared the compilation of the first-ever regional tourism satellite accounts in the Philippines.
Moreover, RSC-CAR is the second in the country to compile a regional compendium on environmental statistics and the first to compile timber, land, mineral, and water accounts using the United Nation’s Framework for the Development of Environment Statistics.
The Committee also passed 14 resolutions in support of statistical development. It endorsed the 2021 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) of the Baguio city, one of the pilot local governments of the PSA among the selected seven LGUs nationwide.
In October 2021, the Committee was recognized as the 4th Best RSC in the whole Philippines for their 2nd semester 2020 and 1st semester 2021 accomplishments.
The RSC-CAR was established through PSA Board Resolution No. 03, s. 2015 as a special committee under the Regional Development Council (RDC).
It serves as the policy-making body on statistical matters and provides direction and guidance to regional and local statistical development activities. NEDA Regional Office (NRO-CAR) Director Susan A. Sumbeling serves as the Committee Chair.
