BAGUIO CITY – The Cordillera Regional Health Research and Development Consortium (CRHRDC) is inviting interested institutions and researchers to submit research proposals for funding. With this endeavor, a Researchers’ Orientation on Proposal Development was conducted on March 20, 2018 at the College of Science Audio-Visual Room, University of the Philippines, Baguio City.
The orientation, attended by 41participants from the 21 member institutions (DOST-CAR, DOH-CAR, NEDA-CAR, CHED-CAR, Saint Louis University, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, UP-Baguio, Benguet State University, University of the Cordilleras, Cordillera Career Development College, Ifugao State University, University of Baguio, Kalinga State University, Pines City Colleges, Mountain Province State Polytechnic College, Luke Foundation, Inc., King’s College of the Philippines, Filipino-Chinese General Hospital, International School of Asia and the Pacific, Baguio City Health Services Office and Benguet Provincial Health Office) in the region, was spearheaded by the Research Management Committee.
Dr. Annie Grail F. Ekid, Research Management Committee (RMC) Chair, presented the Regional Research Fund Mechanism (RRF) and Regional Unified Health Research Agenda (RUHRA), clarifying what proposals may qualify and who may apply. Research proposals that will be entertained by the CRHRDC and Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) are those which address priority health problems/issues identified in the RUHRA and/or National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA); with a budgetary requirement not exceeding One Million pesos (P1,000,000.00); and with a duration of 6 months to 1 year.
Engr. Nathaniel Vincent Lubrica, RMC member, discussed the research and development flow, Ms. Marian C. Sanchez explained the proposal format and Technical Evaluation of proposals while Mr. Jake S. Olsim expounded on Line Item Budget Preparation. On the other hand, Prof. Celia M. Austria, ERC Chair, elaborated on Research Ethics, reiterating that all researches with human participants shall undergo approval/clearance of an accredited Ethics Review Committee (ERC).
Furthermore, only member agencies, regular staff and faculty members of research institutes, medical and paramedical schools, hospitals and other health related agencies may submit proposals, properly endorsed by the head of the agency. Likewise, medical residents of hospitals may submit proposals; provided that, they will be working under the supervision of a more experienced researcher affiliated in the same institution. In addition, graduate students may apply as a co-proponent and/or as member of a team or collaborative and multi-disciplinary research.
The deadline of submission for the capsule proposal is April 10, 2018. The proposal, in two (2) hard copies and one (1) electronic copy on CD, should be addressed to the Cordillera Regional Health Research and Development Consortium located at Department of Science and Technology-CAR, BSU Compound, Km. 6 La Trinidad, Benguet.
