TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has begun distributing food packs to individuals who had tested positive of Covid-19 from January 2022 when the province was placed under Alert Level 4.
The food packs, which contain canned foods, packs of noodles, five kilos of rice, sachets of coffee and milk, and are good for five days, were given by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-CAR specifically for individuals here previously infected by the Covid-19 virus, according to Social Welfare Officer III Marinel Dorgay.
She said that the list of recipients was taken from the City Health Office (CHO) to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Since the distribution began on March 15, the food packs have reached every barangay in Districts 2, 4, and 3, with the exception of Bulanao, which will begin on March 17. Meanwhile, the CSWDO will deliver the food packets to all of District 1’s barangays.
The CSWDO handed over the food packs to the barangays, who will be responsible for distributing the same to those who qualify.
The city administration will continue to assist those who test positive for Covid-19 by placing them at the city’s quarantine facility and providing immediate medical attention, according to City Mayor Darwin Estranero, who expressed gratitude for the food pack assistance provided by the DSWD-CAR.
