TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A total of 115 daycare workers from all over the city attended the Daycare Workers’ Week celebration spearheaded by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) on June 5, at the open gymnasium of Laya West barangay hall.
Anchored on the theme, “Building bridges, changing lives: Honoring the compassion and commitment of child development workers,” Hazel Mullat, the Child Welfare Program focal person of CSWD underscored the vital role of daycare workers in molding the children’s’ identity and capabilities.
In her message, she also reminded them to stay committed to their duties and responsibilities in caring for the physical and emotional needs of the young learners, supporting their education by teaching new skills and good values.
Also present in the event is City Councilor Lucretina Sarol who recognized the dedication of day care workers, because of their love and passion to teach children.
The celebration gave the day care workers an opportunity to meet with their colleagues and exchange ideas and experiences on how they could effectively attend to the social and educational development of their learners through guided learning activities such as reading and playing games, and how to properly address their learners’ temperaments.
The first day of the celebration brought together participants to discuss subjects such as meeting minutes, documentation of center and community activities, the three-year plan, and the annual accomplishment report.
Speaking on behalf of Mayor Darwin Estrañero was his representative Enrique Baliang who expressed his appreciation for the efforts and sacrifices being provided by the day care workers.
Baliang encouraged the participants to continue in organizing creative and helpful activities that allow the young children to learn more and explore their interests.
The celebration resumes today with another round of discussions on personality development and children’s rights, as well as disputed chorale and Zumba activities. By Darwin S. Serion
