BAGUIO CITY – The city social welfare and development office (CSWDO) headed by Betty Fangasan was presented the Lingap Circle Award 2017 for exemplary service and leadership as a champion in implementing community based rehabilitation program for drug surrenderers in the city.
Fangasan said her office was recognized for its Baguio Emergency Response to Addiction (BERA) program conducted from July to December in 2016 in coordination with the Baguio City Police Office, Liga ng mga Barangay and Serenity in the Steps.
“The program immediately addresses and provides appropriate interventions for the growing number of drug surrenderers in the city,” she explained.
The award was handed over on January 28, 2018, at the UP College of Public Health by the Ramon M. Tanseco – Center for Family Ministry (RTM-CEFAM), Rehabilitation, Alternative Programs, Interventions for treatment and Prevention of Illegal Drug Dependency (RAPID), Lost Sheep Initiative of the Bishops Businessmen’s Conference, and Seaoil foundation.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan said the award confirms the city’s sincere desire in rehabilitating drug surrenderers and making Baguio a drug-free zone.
